Compassion International
Opportunity: Compassion International is a Christian child advocacy ministry that works to help more than one million children in 25 countries by partnering with churches, parents, and communities to teach, train, and mentor children in third-world and developing countries. Compassion’s globally dispersed partner offices help to produce a mixture of marketing collateral, including newsletters, flyers, brochures, mailers, and a magazine a couple of times a year, so an integrated, globally sharable solution is essential to managing these and other marketing assets. Although the organization already had a digital asset management solution, it was unable to continue meeting the organization’s needs as it grew; search, control, and usability requirements were not being met, and Compassion knew it was time for change. Out of frustration, people started coming up with their own workarounds: an FTP site, emails, network drives, disks, and so on. All of the organization’s material was widely dispersed, loosely controlled and no one had any idea what media and marketing materials Compassion really had.
Solution: To manage their marketing assets, Compassion implemented Artesia DAM, Open Text’s enterprise Digital Asset Management solution. By centralizing their content, Compassion partners and employees can efficiently repurpose photos, articles, Web site content, and digital audio and video media to reduce research time and increase productivity. Users can easily find, access, edit, share, reuse, distribute, and archive their digital assets, all within unique workflows and using the desktop applications of their choice. With the Artesia DAM Shot List Editor and the Telestream plug-in, Compassion is able to create low-resolution proxies, metadata, and thumbnail representations of full-resolution master assets, and handle multiple video types, formatting them into the distribution medium of the user’s liking. With the addition of a multitude of rich media assets, Compassion leverages the subscription features available in the Artesia DAM to notify staff when new files are uploaded to the repository. With the Artesia DAM Creative Desktop, Compassion has the ability to easily access, share, distribute, reuse, and archive all types of digital content from their desktop without the hassle of launching applications manually.
Timberland
Opportunity: Herman Miller is well-known for its innovative approach to designing and manufacturing furnishings and interior design products for use in home, office, educational, institutional, and healthcare settings. The company's broad range of products and services generate nearly $2 billion in sales every year through sales offices, dealerships, and operations in more than 40 different countries. As Herman Miller's product lines have become more diverse, the product information and support collateral that accompanies them has grown as well. However, the operational processes behind information approvals and delivery did not scale effectively, and resulted in inefficient systems for accessing the most current product information available. Herman Miller required a technology solution to optimize the company's methods for making manufacturing, product, and textile information available to internal users and external partners worldwide.
Solution: Herman Miller used Artesia DAM's enterprise-class framework to establish a Manufacturing Product and Textile Image Library leveraging the power of the Web. After implementing the Digital Asset Management solution, the company's operational processes were streamlined to make vital product, design, and marketing assets easily accessible. Artesia DAM gave Herman Miller's partners the autonomy to locate approved product information to provide even better service to on-site customers throughout the world.
